The first thing I like to do at any birthday event is document the small details that are often overlooked but are essential to the experience. This includes close-up, high-quality shots of elements like the birthday cake and themed décor. For example, at a 90s-themed event I produced, the setup included nostalgic snacks from our childhood and even a classic scrolling LED name belt—details that were too iconic not to capture.

Another key aspect of my process is coordinating with the client to understand the full event timeline. This is how I position myself to capture moments like a father dancing with his daughter at her Sweet 16—being in the right place at the right time. Remaining vigilant outside of scheduled moments is equally important. By staying aware and flexible, I often capture spontaneous interactions that fall outside the original scope but deliver lasting emotional value to the client.
